Tax policies

There is a stark contrast between the application of personal income taxes in countries in developed regions, and in LDCs, SIDs and middle-income countries, as shown in the figure. This indicates a potential gap to be bridged by developing countries in order to further mobilize domestic resources. Part of that gap may be the result of the informal sector, which includes both non-registered enterprises as well as the undeclared economic activity.
